This work was done for the U.S. Army who wanted to develop classroom training tools for new troops.
Proposed concepts:
Terrain table:
A terrain table using an array of linear actuators that correspond to the height (altitude) and image scale of the image projected from above. The computer projects the terrain, and the image (not the table) would rotate and zoom for the best view, with the actuators creating an accurate relief map.
Scale Model:
The trainees enter on the 2nd level. Projector is on the 3rd level, projecting to a 45° mirror attached to the ceiling above the terrain table.
