Them original concept and layout was a that of Dr. Jasper Chandler.  As the industrial designer, Steve’s contribution was to create a compact desk-top microfiche viewer.  The minimalist approach seemed best, to basically shrink wrap the optical path to minimize the product size and the foot print, with the addition of an integral handle at the top.  The device incorporates a concave Ektalite screen and a contrast-enhancing filter, and is assembled primarily of parts snapped or adhesive bonded together, avoiding any visible screws.
