Improving Driver Safety

 

      Drivers sometimes get stuck in traffic or behind large slow-moving vehicles and cannot see the road ahead or when it’s safe to pass.

      This technique to provides a forward view for drivers blocked behind a large vehicle.  This requires each vehicle being fitted with a forward-looking video camera, a rear-facing video transmitter and a forward-sensing video receiver to provide a picture on each cars’ dashboard video screen.  The daisy-chain system displays the number of vehicles ahead to a space available for passing.  

     Basic Idea first disclosed in a meeting with Chris O., 9/17/93.  The NTSB proposed an identical car-to-car communications plan 21 years later in 2014.
