Industrial Design

and miscellaneous projects

...Steve Hines has a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. .The discipline of Industrial Design, or Product Design as taught at NCSU, adhered to the "form follows function" approach pioneered at the Bauhaus in Germany. .Emphasis was on clean, simple designs, demanding truth in materials, and justification for every design decision, yielding products that were functional, ergonomic, attractive and easily manufactured and repaired. .Project critiques, by groups of professors, were rigorous and in which every design decision had to be justifiable by the student. .As Steve's career developed more in the direction of optical and mechanical engineering applied to photographic systems and basic physics research, the early discipline of industrial design however has had a beneficial influence on all projects.
